The Pharmaceutical Care and Services Department of Rajaie Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center operates in line with the hospital’s mission in three major areas: providing pharmaceutical services to patients, conducting research projects, and offering educational activities.
Services provided in this department are delivered in two main fields: Hospital Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacy.
In the field of Hospital Pharmacy, the Pharmaceutical Care and Services Department is responsible for the procurement and distribution of medications required for hospitalized patients (600 beds), as well as supplying medications and providing services to outpatients. To improve quality and facilitate medication delivery for inpatients, medications are distributed using a unit-based system.
Pharmacotherapy services provided in this department include:
- Monitoring, evaluating, and managing adverse drug reactions, as well as documenting and preventing medication side effects.
- Therapeutic drug monitoring (serum drug level monitoring).
- Monitoring patients’ drug therapy and reviewing all medications received by the patient.
- Providing drug information to other healthcare professionals.
- Educating patients to improve adherence to treatment regimens (medication administration, side effects, drug interactions, and more).
