Shaheed Rajaei Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center is one of the largest
heart hospitals in Asia. Designed as an H in an area of 110000 squire meter, the
hospital was registered under registration number 910 for the provision of cardiovascular
care and became fully operational in 1972 with a capacity of 400 nominal beds. Since
then, the hospital has increased the number of its active beds to 600. In 1992,
the Iranian Development Council of Medical Universities in its 52nd session granted
organizational, administrative, financial, and educational independence to the hospital
at the request of the director of the hospital and chancellor of Iran University
of Medical Sciences (IUMS). In addition, the hospital was mandated to train students
and residents introduced by IUMS. Shaheed Rajaei Cardiovascular Medical and Research
Center renders services in as many different fields as adult cardiology, pediatric cardiology, cardiac surgery, catheterization, angiography, pacemaker, cardiac electrophysiology,
ablation, rehabilitation, cardiac imaging (echocardiography, fetal heart echocardiography,
